hi, and Welcome to my blog. I’m so happy you’ve stopped by!
Let me introduce myself
This is me, Sam, founder of the blog, 40-something mum of one, and to say I’m a food lover would be a complete understatement - I am always planning my next meal (I mean, always)!
So, what’s the story with me and food?
I'm a self-taught home cook, nothing fancier than that, with a genuine (bordering on obsessive) love of food, a big appetite and a desire to eat well. I love creating and sharing my recipes which are simple yet mighty. Anyone can make them - no chef skills required - and hopefully, all who do, enjoy them;-)
When and why did I start the blog?
What’s Eating Her has been knocking around since 2016. It’s a labour of love and my long-term creative outlet. I love to cook, and I love to document what I do. It’s like my cooking diary. Following the birth of my son and the need to carve out a more family-friendly career, I retrained in Digital Marketing and Website Design, and around this time the blog was born. You can also find me over on Instagram doing the food thing, and a bit of talking about work, and life.
What are my principles?
I like to think I keep it pretty real - I prepare and eat nutritious food that tastes good, and especially helps me to feel good in the hormone department. I don’t like rules and diets, I don’t count calories, and I find that keeping the heavily processed stuff (you know the packets with loads of ingredients that nobody understands) to an absolute minimum is really what serves me best.
How does this all work in practice?
Cooking meals from scratch as much as I possibly can, and simply enjoying food and all that goes with it - the prep, the making, the eating and, of course, the sharing with loved ones.
MY FINAL F WORD…
I'm all about the easy, so my recipes don’t involve complicated instructions; that's just not me. ;-) Most are veggie or vegan because I LOVE anything from the plant kingdom. And while I do eat meat and fish, you’ll find very little of either in this blog.
AND, HOW ABOUT DESSERT AND THE SWEET STUFF?
Savoury is what I do best, but the odd sweet treat does make its way online, too. Life’s about balance and enjoyment, after all, and I am ALL for that 😉
Hopefully, you like what you’re reading, and if you do try one of my recipes for yourself, I would love to hear from you.
But for now, thank you for reading. Let’s cook, and let’s EAT!
